Starting in the winter semester 2025/2026, it will be possible to complete an international dual degree between the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol and Kajaani University of Applied Science in Finland.

Starting in the winter semester 2025/2026, it will be possible to complete an international dual degree between the full-time Bachelor's program in Sports, Culture & Event Management at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol and Kajaani University of Applied Science in Finland.

The cooperation between the two universities enables students to obtain an additional bachelor's degree in tourism. To obtain this double degree, students spend their semester abroad and an additional semester at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences in Finland. Upon successful completion, graduates receive two degrees: a Bachelor's in Tourism and a Bachelor of Arts in Business.

"Through the dual degree program, graduates gain international experience and additional qualifications that significantly improve their career opportunities," explains Asc. Prof. (FH) Mag. Monika Kohlhofer, programme director of Sports, Culture & Event Management and responsible for the cooperation. "The programme does not usually cause any delays, as all coursework and examinations are mutually recognised. However, instead of the standard six semesters at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, students need an additional seventh semester in Kajaani to obtain both degrees."

ADDITIONAL SKILLS IN THE FIELD OF TOURISM

The aim for students of the Sports, Culture & Event Management program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol is to acquire complementary skills in the field of tourism. Students become providers, developers and specialists in tourism services and expand their portfolio with knowledge to be successful in the fast-paced world of tourism. The prospective graduates deal with current trends and phenomena in the tourism industry and build a solid foundation of expertise for multidisciplinary collaboration in the operational areas of tourism. Similar to the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, the theoretical knowledge acquired in the Finnish degree programme is put into practice in projects and events together with local companies and organisations.

After successfully completing the first two semesters in Kufstein, students can apply for the bachelor's degree cooperation program and will then be invited to take part in a selection process. Once the candidates have been nominated by the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, they spend the fifth semester (semester abroad) at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. In the sixth semester, the Kufstein curriculum includes a professional internship, which can also be completed in Kajaani. Of course, students from Kajaani also have the opportunity to earn their dual degree at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences.
