A glimpse into the newsroom of the Tiroler Tageszeitung: a focused working atmosphere and modern editorial offices at the heart of Moser Holding.
When theory meets practice: Students of the Marketing & Communication Management (MKM) degree program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol gained exciting insights into editorial work, radio, and career opportunities within the Tyrolean media world during an excursion to Moser Holding.
On Wednesday, 20. May 2025, students from the fourth semester visited Moser Holding in Innsbruck as part of the Media Skills course. The excursion offered the opportunity to experience editorial procedures firsthand and gain an authentic impression of everyday work in a modern media company. In addition, the focus was on personal exchange with experts from the editorial, management, and technical departments - a valuable opportunity to link theoretical content from the degree program with practical experience.
Editorial insights at the Tiroler Tageszeitung newspaper
The tour began in the editorial offices of the Tiroler Tageszeitung newspaper. Editor-in-chief Marco Witting gave an overview of everyday editorial work and how a regional media company operates. Around 70 to 80 editors report on topics that are relevant to people in Tyrol in various departments.
A particular highlight was the view of the newsroom from above: absolute concentration reigns there—a calm and focused atmosphere characterizes the room. In addition, Marco Witting gave the students a realistic picture of the everyday working life of journalists, also addressing the requirements and development opportunities in this professional field.
Current developments in journalism and the increasing use of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, were also discussed. Moser Holding is pursuing a progressive approach in this area. It was emphasized that, despite digital support, people remain at the center of all decisions—a principle known as “the human in the loop.”
DIVERSE CAREER PATHWAYS WITHIN MOSER HOLDING
Afterwards, Daniela Lerchner from the Recruiting department presented the various career fields within the group. In addition to traditional editorial and production activities, Moser Holding also offers exciting opportunities in marketing, sales, HR, and other areas. The company employs a total of around 1,220 people at 106 locations in Austria.
INSIGHT INTO THE RADIO STATION LIFE RADIO TIROL
The tour continued to Life Radio Tirol, where CEO Managing Director Gerald Bichler welcomed the group and provided a comprehensive insight into the station's operations. The station is aimed at families and young adults in Tyrol and reaches up to 100,000 listeners every day.
The program is designed by around 20 to 25 employees. The program achieves its highest reach in the morning hours; on average, users actively listen for six to eight minutes per day.
In the studio, the students experienced first-hand how music rotation, presentation, jingles, and technology all work together. The station deliberately focuses on proven music formats, but also actively promotes Tyrolean musicians and gives up-and-coming talent a platform.
VOICES FROM THE DEGREE PROGRAM
Julia Marx, a student in her fourth semester, draws a positive conclusion: “The visit to Moser Holding showed me how diverse communication is in a media company – from journalistic work to strategic planning.”
PRACTICE MEETS DEGREE PROGRAM
The excursion gave students a deep look into the structures and procedures of a modern media company. It was a great addition to what they learned in their degree program, giving them real-world experience and helping them see career options in communications more clearly.
