The students posed in front of the glass sphere at the Riedel site – an impressive sculpture made from around 1,500 wine glasses.
At the end of November 2025, international bachelor's and master's students at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol gained exclusive insights into the family-owned company Riedel Glas and its museum as part of the Connect Program – an experience full of culture, craftsmanship and communal encounters.
The Connect Program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein, launched in September 2025, supports international students in getting started with their studies and everyday life in Kufstein. Local students act as buddies and help non-locals to find their way around organisational issues, housing and everyday life. In addition, the project strengthens the community through joint activities such as international dinners, city tours or museum visits – such as the museum at Riedel Glas.
Riedel is a traditional family business that has specialised in the manufacture of high-quality glasses for generations. With the Riedel factory, the company combines centuries-old craftsmanship with modern technology to produce glasses that bring out the best in taste and aroma.
INSIGHT INTO THE ART OF GLASSCRAFT
The tour of the Riedel Glass Museum and headquarters offered students fascinating insights into the world of glass production. During the tour, they explored the exhibitions, learned about the centuries-old history of the family-run Riedel company, and followed the entire manufacturing process of high-quality glasses – from raw materials to the finished product. Particularly impressive was the live glassblowing demonstration, where the students experienced first-hand the precision, creativity and tradition that goes into the production of every piece of Riedel glass.
EXPERIENCE CULTURE AND MAKE INTERNATIONAL CONTACTS
For many of the newly arrived international students, the exhibition was also an excellent opportunity to discover local culture and history and to get to know other international exchange students. The Riedel Tour combined cultural experiences with communal exchange, thus becoming a lasting memory of their time in Kufstein.
