On 11 January 2026, around 50 girls aged between 8 and 14 transformed USI Hall 40 in Innsbruck into a place full of movement, energy and enthusiasm. At the sports taster day Girls Move the World! 2.0, they were able to try out new things, laugh together, and discover different sports with great curiosity - while also getting to know the participating Innsbruck clubs better.
Whether soccer, rugby, judo, or other exciting disciplines - the varied program offered numerous opportunities to test one's own strengths and surpass oneself. The focus was on having fun exercising, sharing experiences, and having the courage to try new things.
The event was organized as part of a practical project by students on the full-time Master's program in Sports, Culture & Event Management at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. The aim of the project was to make it easier for girls to access a variety of sports activities, encourage them to participate in exercise and sports, and connect them with local clubs - in order to foster a long-term, positive relationship with sports.
The event was supported by sponsors Tiroler Sparkasse, Verival Bio, Nitro Snowboards, Innput Agency, Pure & Fun, Leokino Cinematograph, and Bäckerei Kröll.
A DAY FULL OF ACTIVITY, FUN AND ENCOUNTERS
The varied program was supervised by qualified trainers and provided insights into numerous sports such as judo, kickboxing, volleyball, soccer, rugby, fencing, basketball, snowboarding, floorball, and hip-hop. The girls were able to learn about the individual disciplines, try them out for themselves, and get in direct contact with the participating sports clubs. The participants were consistently motivated, curious, and clearly enjoyed themselves.
Another highlight was the athlete talk with Michaela Handler-Hollaus from the Bergstrand beach volleyball club. She gave personal insights into her career and answered questions from the girls.
A raffle with attractive prizes from the sponsors added to the excitement. Activities such as table tennis, a painting station, and spikeball provided siblings and accompanying parents with welcome entertainment during the event. Free snacks and drinks were also available for participants and accompanying persons.
SUCCESSFUL ORGANIZATION AND STRONG SIGNAL FOR GIRLS' SPORTS
The second edition of the event was also extremely successful from an organizational perspective. The project team ensured a structured process, a safe environment, and a positive overall experience for all participants. Thanks to comprehensive preparation and clear safety standards, the event was able to take place safely and according to plan.
Girls Move the World! 2.0 once again sent a clear message about the importance of more exercise, participation, and visibility for girls in sports. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, accompanying adults, and participating clubs confirms that the event was also very well received in its second year.
