The students enjoyed their week in Naples and viewed the cultural offerings with an expert eye.
A week spent among ancient ruins, historic buildings and Mediterranean joie de vivre: students from the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol discovered Naples during International Week in October 2025 – and returned home full of new impressions.
In October 2025, students from the part-time Bachelor's program in Sports, Culture & Event Management travelled to Naples for a week with their supervisor Mag. Annemarie Kapferer, MSc. The International Week, which includes a stay abroad as part of the study program, offered them the opportunity to experience international cultural and event structures first-hand, deepen their specialist knowledge and expand their intercultural skills.
In addition to the cultural highlights of the trip, the students gained numerous practical insights: they were able to experience how event planning, city management and cultural mediation are implemented in a historic and lively city. At the same time, the trip promoted exchange within the group, strengthened teamwork and the ability to combine theoretical knowledge with concrete examples.
CULTURAL HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
The week began with a guided tour of Naples' historic centre, complemented by insights into underground tunnel systems and a lost amphitheatre. Other items on the agenda took the students to the region's most important sights, including Pompeii, Castel Nuovo, Teatro San Carlo and the picturesque island of Capri. Culinary experiences and wine tastings complemented the cultural impressions and provided an opportunity to exchange ideas about what they had experienced. This gave the students a comprehensive overview of Naples' diversity – from history and architecture to culture and urban lifestyle.
CONCLUSION: LEARNING WITH ALL THE SENSES
The International Week in Naples offered students a unique combination of professional development, cultural experience and personal inspiration. They returned home with new impressions, practical insights and valuable experiences – motivated to apply their knowledge from an international perspective in their studies and professional practice.
