Hannes Widmann, Head of Marketing and HR at Sparkasse Kufstein (right), gave the students in the boardroom an insight into the areas of HR management and AI and how Sparkasse Kufstein deals with them.

At the end of May, students from Kufstein University of Applied Sciences immersed themselves in the working world of Sparkasse Kufstein. In addition to a tour of the premises, they were given an insight into the history and positioning of the bank - including an exciting exchange on personnel development and the use of artificial intelligence.

On 23 May 2025, a special highlight was on the agenda for the students in the fourth semester of the part-time Bachelor's degree program in International Business Studies: together with their course director Prof. (FH) Dr Peter Dietrich, they accepted the invitation from Prok. Mag. (FH) Hannes Widmann, MSc, Head of Marketing and HR at Sparkasse Kufstein, and visited the regionally rooted bank to gain exciting insights into its working environment and strategic orientation.

INSIGHTS INTO A COMPANY ORIENTATED TOWARDS THE COMMON GOOD

After a friendly welcome, Hannes Widmann guided the group through the historic premises of the Sparkasse - from the open counter area to workstations and meeting rooms.

An interesting presentation offered the students not only an overview of the history and positioning of the Sparkasse, but also insights into current strategic issues. Sparkasse Kufstein sees itself as a partner to the region. The common good is already enshrined in its statutes - and this claim is crucial for the co-operation with customers, employees and other stakeholders.

The focus was also on two other areas: HR management and the use of artificial intelligence.

FROM THEORY TO CONCRETE IDEAS FOR ACTION

The students were able to actively contribute their knowledge during the excursion: They worked in small groups to find concrete answers to two key questions:

  1. How can human capital - i.e. the sum of competences - be further developed in the savings bank?
  2.  what potential does AI offer for the savings bank and how can this be utilised in concrete terms?

The well-founded results were presented directly to Hannes Widmann, which facilitated an intensive exchange. This made it clear how valuable fresh input from outside can be.

To conclude, Hannes Widmann gave the students an inspiring message for future leadership roles: "You only need three things to promote motivation: Opportunities to learn, good teamwork - and autonomy."
