Learning outcomes of the courses/module

The participants:
• describe basic forms of technical innovation and explain their importance for energy and sustainability.
• explain simple technical influencing factors such as efficiencies, material properties and system boundaries in the context of technological innovation.
• recognise typical technical and organizational prerequisites for the development and introduction of new technologies.
• identify fundamental challenges and barriers in the further technical development and application of innovative solutions.
• classify new technologies on the basis of elementary technical criteria such as operating principle, field of application and maturity level.

- Basic concepts of technological innovation in energy and sustainability
- Simple technical operating principles of selected energy technologies
- Technological influencing factors such as efficiency, material properties and energy efficiency
- Fundamentals of technology development cycles and maturity levels
- Basic requirements for technical systems and organizational conditions
- Technical and organizational barriers to the development and introduction of new technologies
- Classifying technologies on the basis of simple technical criteria and characteristic values
