Learning outcomes of the courses/module

The participants:
• have a basic understanding of the necessity of science, research and publishing within the academic world.
• understand how to determine the state of research on a particular topic.
• can formulate research questions clearly and appropriately for the topic.
• are familiar with various methods for answering research questions and can select the one relevant to the topic.
• have an overview of where to research which specialist literature, how to evaluate it and how to use it appropriately in the text (critical reflection, citation style).
• possess the knowledge to produce an academic paper of medium complexity and manageable scope in accordance with the prescribed formal requirements.

Course content

• Special features, rules and fundamentals of science and academic work
• Epistemological and methodological fundamentals of academic research
• Overview of quantitative (observation, survey, content analysis, experiment) and qualitative methods
• Appropriate use of AI when producing an academic paper
• Overview of databases and other options for finding literature sources
