Learning outcomes of the courses/module

The participants:
• understand the fundamentals of accounting.
• have an initial overview of the essential components of the annual financial statements and their function.
• develop a basic understanding of simple business transactions and essential processes in accounting.
• have basic knowledge of financial reporting and controlling.

Prerequisites for the course

None

Course content

• Fundamentals and classification of accounting
• Differentiation between financial and management accounting
• Tasks, functions and legal foundations of financial accounting (Austrian Commercial Code, UGB)
• Introduction to the bookkeeping obligation
• Fundamentals of bookkeeping and double-entry bookkeeping
• Generally accepted accounting principles (GoB)
• Structure and classification of the balance sheet and income statement under the UGB
• Introduction to cost accounting
