Learning outcomes of the courses/module

The participants:
• have in-depth knowledge of the special features of the sports market and its key players and goods.
• understand basic sectors, concepts and theories of sports management and are able to explain and critically reflect on these with reference to relevant empirical findings.
• are able to relate the various areas and sectors of sports management to each other and to work on overarching issues in the field of sports.
• develop key cognitive skills as well as their decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Course content

Basic concepts and theories of sport management are covered. This includes an introduction to the environment of sport management, the comparison of different sports systems, the fundamentals of organizational culture, strategic management and special features of personnel management in sport organizations. Central aspects of sports marketing, sports event management and sports tourism are also covered.
