The participants:
• analyze a complex subject-specific problem field and identify research-relevant gaps as well as theoretical and practical points of reference.
• formulate a precise, verifiable and theory-based research question at master's level and justify its scientific relevance.
• develop a suitable conceptual approach and structure key concepts, variables and theoretical references for the planned research project.
• assess the feasibility of the research project taking into account data access, methodology, schedule and ethical conditions.
• present their research question and project planning in an audience-appropriate manner and reflect on subject-specific feedback to optimise the research design.

- Identification of relevant research fields and derivation of a precise master's thesis research question
- Structuring of theoretical foundations and definition of key concepts and variables
- Development of an initial research design including the choice of methods and feasibility
- Analysis of data and source availability as well as ethical and organizational conditions
- Discussion and presentation of the planned master's thesis project
