Learning outcomes of the courses/module

The participants:
• transfer and assess principles and concepts of system resilience to ecological, economic and social systems and analyze their applicability in different contexts.
• identify, analyze and integrate climate risks and vulnerabilities into decision-making processes in order to derive well-founded risk and adaptation strategies.
• conceive and develop adaptive climate adaptation strategies and measures that integrate ecological, social and economic dimensions and make them assessable.
• model systemic interactions between climate, society and infrastructure and derive robust recommendations for action for various groups of actors.
• design governance and management approaches to foster resilient systems and reflectively assess their effectiveness in the context of sustainability transformations.

Fundamentals of sustainability, transformation, risk management

- Principles of system resilience in ecological, economic and social systems
- Identification and analysis of climate risks, vulnerabilities and exposures
- Development of adaptive climate adaptation strategies and measures
- Systemic modeling of interactions between climate, society and infrastructure
- Risk and adaptation assessment based on scientific indicators and scenarios
- Governance and management approaches for resilient systems
- Strategic decision-making under uncertainty and trade-offs
- Effectiveness and transformation analysis of resilience and adaptation measures
