Learning outcomes of the courses/module
The participants:
• analyze urban and regional economic framework conditions including diversity and inclusion requirements and assess their significance for smart city and smart community developments.
• develop integrated concepts for smart districts and examine their technical, ecological, social and economic rationale as well as the consideration of diversity and inclusion requirements.
• identify relevant digital and infrastructural technologies and assess their potential applications for urban transformation processes.
• evaluate challenges and risks and make well-founded decisions for sustainable urban and district development.

- Smart cities and smart communities as strategic urban and regional development approaches
- Digital and infrastructural technologies such as IoT, mobility solutions, energy systems and data platforms
- Urban transformation processes with a focus on energy, mobility, spatial structure and governance
- Analysis of urban-planning and spatial-planning foundations for smart district concepts
- Diversity and inclusion principles in smart city concepts
- Assessment approaches for smart measures in terms of sustainability, quality of life, cost and acceptance
- Stakeholder management and participatory decision-making processes in municipal transformation projects
- Digital and infrastructural technologies such as IoT, mobility solutions, energy systems and data platforms
