• can define data transmission requirements
• are familiar with relevant evaluation criteria (latency, availability, data transfer rate, etc.) for selecting approaches and evaluating requirements and approaches
• can evaluate transmission technologies and protocols based on these requirements
• are familiar with architectures, methods, and protocols
• can select transmission technologies and build prototypes
