Learning outcomes of the courses/module

The participants:
• analyze culturally shaped communication, leadership and decision-making styles in international organizations.
• apply models of intercultural competence to real-world situations.
• shape and steer team processes in diverse, international environments in a goal-oriented and empathetic manner.
• reflect on their personal leadership behavior, understanding of values and self-perception of their role in an intercultural context.
• develop strategies for leadership, motivation and conflict resolution in globally networked organizations.
• integrate ethical, sustainable and intercultural perspectives into their future professional practice.
• analyze culture-specific differences in work, organizational and time structures and develop strategies for a stable work-life balance based on them.
• assess international gender norms, equality frameworks and diversity practices across different cultural and legal systems and, building on this, design gender-inclusive forms of communication and interaction in an intercultural environment.

Course content

This module is completed as part of the semester abroad at a partner institution. It serves to specifically foster leadership skills, intercultural understanding and global competence. The students develop the ability to lead international teams, to make productive use of diversity and to critically reflect on their own leadership behavior, as well as to further develop their own work-life balance strategies.

The content is formulated as examples and can be covered by courses at the partner institution:

- In-depth study of international and intercultural leadership
- Cultural dimensions and models
- Communication, trust and conflict management in international teams
- Leadership styles & global ethics
- Gender, diversity & inclusion in global contexts
- Personal leadership development and self-reflection
- International team development and virtual leadership
- Case studies of global organizations, NGOs and real estate companies
