Supply Chain Management
Niveau
1st study cycle, Bachelor
Learning outcomes of the courses/module
The participants:
• know the concepts of production, logistics, and supply chain management.
• can apply the concepts to practical examples.
• identify problem areas in companies related to supply chain management.
• can develop their own solutions in the area of supply chain management.
• are able to analyze inventory and warehousing costs in supply chains and identify optimization potential.
• can evaluate coordination and control mechanisms in supply chains (e.g., VMI, outsourcing) and assess their effects on efficiency and stability.

Course content
• Production theory, planning, and organization of production
• Logistics in the company (procurement, storage, transport)
• Inventory management and warehousing costs (including basic ordering models)
• Coordination mechanisms, conflicting objectives, and simulations in supply chains (e.g., Beer Game, bullwhip effect)
• Key performance indicators and analysis tools in supply chain management (e.g., inventory intensity, warehousing costs, return on investment, cash conversion cycle, ABC and XYZ analysis) as well as basic models for inventory optimization (e.g., economic order quantity)
