Learning outcomes of the courses/module
Students possess in-depth knowledge of the structure and characteristics of the Austrian media landscape and can classify and critically reflect on different areas of media literacy. They are able to analyze the economic interconnections of various media sectors at both national and international levels and discuss their influence on media production and distribution. Additionally, they engage with current developments in digital media, regulatory frameworks, and media-economic interrelations.

Course content
In this course, students engage with current media-ethical issues as well as key debates in theory and practice. They examine the structure and functioning of the Austrian media landscape and analyze its significance in an international context. The course covers criteria for classifying and evaluating media quality, as well as the influence and specific characteristics of Austrian media policy. In addition, students gain insights into the organization, structure, and operations of media companies and acquire practical experience with selected areas of media literacy.
