Course content

The Cultural Studies II seminar explores key cultural studies issues and theories with a particular focus on their relevance to contemporary social practices. Building on the foundations laid in Cultural Studies I, the seminar examines current theories that understand culture as a multi-perspective and dynamic field of social, media, and economic negotiation processes.
The focus is on cultural studies perspectives on practices in sports, culture, and event management. Furthermore, transcultural and global perspectives are taken into account, especially with regard to their media communication. By repeatedly building bridges between theoretical considerations and concrete fields of work, cultural studies concepts are read and examined for their viability in practice.
