Learning outcomes of the courses/module
The participants:
• understand the basic methods of quantitative research - from data collection to analysis and interpretation - and apply them in a practical manner.
• independently develop valid survey settings, evaluate the collected data using suitable software tools and interpret the results in a manner appropriate to the target group.
• critically reflect on and evaluate various statistical methods, select the appropriate instruments and justify their decisions in a comprehensible manner.
• are able to present empirical findings in a structured manner, are able to reflect on their significance and understand how to translate the findings into recommendations for action.

Course content
The course deals with the concepts and methods of univariate and bivariate quantitative social research. The main topics are descriptive and inferential statistical methods, parametric and non-parametric tests, development and evaluation of surveys, design and use of various scale and rating scale formats, software-supported data set analyses as well as targeted segmentation and interpretation of data.
