Learning outcomes of the courses/module
The participants:
• develop a basic understanding of modern sports development.
• will be able to understand and explain fundamental concepts and theories (and the corresponding empirical findings) of sports development, sports management and governance as well as sports development planning and reflect on these against the background of a later career in the field of sports.
• will be able to understand and evaluate specialist texts from the fields of sports development and governance in sports in order to competently meet the challenges of the various interest groups in sports in the context of their future professional activities.

Course content
The concepts, theories and findings of sports development, sports development planning and sports governance are dealt with and reflected on against the background of potential professional fields. The central players in state sports policy and the basic measures of state sports promotion are analysed. How specific sports development goals are reached through elite sports, events and physical activity promotion are also considered.
