• can systematically analyze and critically reflect on the connection between empirical research and evidence-based decision-making processes in professional practice.
• can understand and apply the significance of theoretical assumptions, key concepts, and scientific paradigms for the planning and implementation of research processes.
• can assess the possible applications, advantages, and limitations of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• are able to independently develop research instruments such as questionnaires and interview guides, guided by theoretical foundations.
• can plan, conduct, and document empirical surveys in a methodologically profound manner.
• are able to confidently apply basic data analysis methods (e.g., statistical software, qualitative data analysis programs) and critically interpret the results obtained.

Course content
• Fundamentals of qualitative and quantitative research approaches in the disciplines of sport, cultural, and event management, as well as their intersections
• Research designs in qualitative and quantitative social research (discussion based on selected scientific papers), including the development of the theoretical framework.
• Qualitative methods: sampling, interview and observation methods, qualitative content analysis, ethical considerations and standards of research quality
• Quantitative methods: sample size, descriptive statistics, inferential statistical methods, computer-assisted data analysis (e.g., SPSS)
• Application: analysis of datasets and survey data in the quantitative field; interpretation of qualitative data
• Critical engagement with empirical studies in the fields of sport, cultural, and event management
