Moments of peace: At the mindfulness station, the children explored the element of earth through relaxation exercises.
Under a bright blue sky, 230 children explored the world of the four elements: volcanoes erupted, model airplanes circled through the air, water splashed, and music moved the visitors. The kubi children's literature festival showcased all that a library has to offer.
Under the motto "Off to Elementia! – An exciting journey through fire, water, air & earth," the kubi – Kufstein Library for Science & Leisure – once again delighted numerous children this summer. For this year's children's literature festival, the team offered an interactive world of experiences over two varied days, focusing on reading, discovery, and participation.
AROUND 230 CHILDREN DISCOVERED THE WORLD OF THE FOUR ELEMENTS
A total of around 230 students from various elementary schools visited the kubi and explored the numerous hands-on stations in small groups. Together with students from the Sports, Culture & Event Management program at the HOK | Kufstein University of Applied Sciences Tirol, numerous volunteers, and the kubi team, the young visitors were able to experiment, craft, solve puzzles, and playfully immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the four elements.
At the volcano station, an erupting volcano was brought to life, making the element of fire a truly impressive experience. At a sensory box, children had to feel and guess various objects, while a water quiz tested their knowledge about the element of water. A mindfulness station provided a conscious counterpoint, allowing the children to experience moments of peace and relaxation. The program was rounded out with a dance station accompanied by music and a reading session that focused on the joy of reading.
A particular highlight was the airshow by the Wörgl-Kundl Model Aircraft Club. Spectacular flight demonstrations thrilled young and old alike, leaving spectators in awe. A raffle with many fantastic prizes also awaited visitors, rounding off the diverse program.
A JOINT PROJECT WITH SUSTAINABLE ADDED VALUE
The kubi Children's Literature Festival aims to introduce children to the kubi – Kufstein Library for Science & Leisure – in a playful way and to foster a love of reading. Many young visitors experience the library for the first time as a modern place for discovery, learning, and exploration.
At the same time, all project partners benefit from the event: kubi gains new young visitors and showcases its diverse offerings, while the Wörgl-Kundl Model Aircraft Club inspires children with model aircraft flying and introduces its club. For the students of HOK, the festival offered the opportunity, as part of their practical project, to plan and implement a real event independently and thereby gain valuable practical experience.

Library director Katharina Juffinger also emphasized the added value of the event: “I am delighted with the success of this year’s kubi children’s literature festival. Numerous students and families enthusiastically embraced our craft and reading stations. My special thanks go to everyone involved – the project team, the sponsors, and the library team – without whom this event would not have been possible. The festival impressively demonstrated how important promoting reading and cultural participation are – we are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
