Companions from the Kufstein University (HOK), the foundation, and the city honored Simon Hermann Huber’s long-standing dedication to Kufstein as a center of education during a celebratory ceremony at Hotel Sappl, awarding him the Golden Badge of Honor.
On October 30, 2026, Simon Hermann Huber was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor by the HOK Private Foundation during a celebratory ceremony at Hotel Sappl. As a symbol of special recognition for his commitment, he was presented with an honorary certificate and the badge of honor surrounded by numerous long-time companions.
Honoring an Eventful History
The eulogy/tribute speech was delivered by Dr. Herbert Marschitz, Chairman of the Board of the HOK Private Foundation. In his address, he looked back on the university's dynamic history—from the initial initiatives in 1995 launched by Honorary President Prof. KommR Walter J. Mayr to its establishment today as a modern academic hub featuring 29 degree programs and approximately 2,500 students, including the International School Kufstein Tirol (ISK) with around 350 pupils.
Marschitz particularly highlighted Huber’s many years of involvement on the Foundation Advisory Board, emphasizing that he played a key role in shaping and supporting HOK's development. Especially in recent years, when the International School required additional space and campus expansion was on the agenda—such as integrating the Gallhaus and Heine/Felberbauer properties—the institution was able to rely on his valuable support.
The fact that this path became possible is thanks to the people who took responsibility over decades and supported this development. Simon Hermann Huber is truly one of these people.
