Smiling faces all around in Class 8a at ORG St. Ursula in Carinthia: With the Matura Award, the class has won EUR 3,000, which will be invested in an unforgettable graduation celebration.

EUR 3,000 for an unforgettable graduation celebration: Class 8a from ORG St. Ursula in Carinthia has won the Matura Award sweepstakes organized by FH Kufstein Tirol and can now look forward to a very special graduation celebration.

There was great excitement at a school in Klagenfurt: On May 22, 2026, the 20 graduating students of Class 8a received very special news during their interim Matura conference: They are the winning class of the FH Kufstein Tirol Matura Award sweepstakes. In the presence of Principal Harald Triebnig, the class teacher, Margarete Kattnig-Wendl, presented the soon-to-be graduates with a symbolic check for EUR 3,000. The excitement about the prize was enormous - the cheers could quite literally be heard all across Klagenfurt. The class already knows exactly how the prize money will be used: They plan to create an unforgettable and fitting graduation celebration to properly mark the end of their school years together.

“We are very pleased to present the Matura Award again this year and to support the students of Class 8a at an important milestone in their lives,” said Lena Streli, contact person for FH4Schools offerings.

An Award with Tradition — Supported by Sparkasse Kufstein

The Matura Award sweepstakes organized by FH Kufstein Tirol and supported by Sparkasse Kufstein was held for the 26th time this year and continues to grow in popularity. Nearly 600 students from upper secondary schools in Austria, Bavaria, and South Tyrol took part this time - including Class 8a from the Oberstufenrealgymnasium St. Ursula in Carinthia, whose name was ultimately drawn as the lucky winner.

Here’s how it works: Only students from Matura or Abitur graduating classes are eligible to participate. The prize money of EUR 3,000 can only be won by the entire class. To be entered into the drawing, participants must correctly answer eight questions about studying at FH Kufstein Tirol. The answers can be found on the university’s website, so a bit of research is required. Teamwork pays off: The more students from a class take part, the higher the class’s chances of winning. The winning class is then selected at random.

With the continued support of Sparkasse Kufstein, the sweepstakes will continue to help Matura and Abitur graduating classes fund their senior trip or graduation celebration in the future.
